Happy Healthy Cat Month

Did you know that September is officially Happy, Healthy Cat Month? Needless to say, we think every month should be Happy, Healthy Cat Month! Kitties certainly deserve to be comfortable, safe, and pampered all year! That said, this is a great time to talk about Fluffy’s care needs. Providing your pet with good food, fresh water, and a clean litterbox will go a long way towards keeping your feline buddy in good health. However, great cat care goes above and beyond these basics. Read on as a Pickerington, OH vet offers tips on keeping your cat content and purring.

Fluffy’s Veterinary Care Needs

Making sure your kitty sees the vet regularly is very important! We recommend that all cats be microchipped; spayed or neutered; and kept current on all vaccinations, parasite control products, and regular exams. Ask your vet to recommend an appointment schedule. At home, watch for signs of illness. If you notice anything unusual, contact your vet immediately.

Entertaining The Furball

There’s no denying that kitties are, well, rather drowsy. Fluffy certainly does love her naps! However, your pet will need something to do while she’s actually awake. Our feline friends get bored and restless with nothing to do. Provide Fluffy with lots of toys, and play with her regularly.

Kitty Comforts

Make sure Fluffy has a few pieces of kitty furniture, like a cat tower or pet condo. A good scratching post or board is also a must. Your furball will also appreciate some comfy beds to snooze in.

Safety

Cats are very, very good at getting themselves into mischief. Make your home safe for your curious little pet by removing anything that could be dangerous, such as toxic plants; wires and cords; plastic bags and ties; medicine; chemicals; and small or sharp objects. We also strongly recommend keeping Fluffy inside. Kitties are both safer and healthier living indoors!

Comfort And Purrs

Kitties may have a reputation for being aloof, but they really are very affectionate and emotional. To keep Fluffy’s motor going, make sure to pay lots of attention to her. Talk to her, pet her, play with her, and offer snuggles and attention, so she feels loved, safe, and pampered. You’ll be rewarded with cuddles, purrs, and unconditional love.
