The Rules of Being a Cat

If you have a kitty, you’ve probably noticed that our feline friends seem to live by their own rules. If kitties had an official code of honor, what do you think that would look like? A Pickerington, OH vet offers an educated guess in this article.

Get Lots Of Sleep

If cats had a single golden rule to live by, there’s a pretty good chance that this would be it. Kitties can spend up to a whopping 20 hours a day snoozing! While you probably don’t need quite that much rest, it is important to make sure you are getting enough sleep.

Always Look Your Best

Cats take their beauty rituals very seriously. Fluffy may spend hours each day carefully grooming herself, and making sure her pretty fur stays soft and shiny. Always put your best foot forward!

Eat Well

Fluffy has a reputation for being, well, a bit fussy. There’s actually a good reason for this: in the wild, kitties always eat their prey fresh. Your pet will turn her cute little nose up at anything that smells even a little bit off. Be mindful of what you put on your plate: after all, you are what you eat!

Don’t Worry About What People Think

Kitties can be pretty silly at times. Fluffy may roll around, run back and forth, or generally act adorably goofy when she feels frisky. She’s also not shy about getting comfortable in odd places or positions. Be yourself!

Enjoy The Sun

Fluffy often times her morning, mid-morning, and late-morning naps so that she can doze in her favorite sunbeams. While one might suspect that cats actually run on solar power, the truth is that kitties just love sunbathing. Take time now and then just to soak up some sun.

Express Yourself

Kitties are pretty good at expressing themselves. When Fluffy snuggles up on your lap or curls up with you at night, it’s hard to mistake her cuddles for anything but affection. Fluffy may also use adorable chirrups or meows to express her hunger or curiosity. And, as anyone who has ever tried to bathe a cat can tell you, felines are also quite clear about letting us know when they don’t like something! Show your loved ones you care!
