Spoil Your Dog for National Pet Month

May is a very special time for our animal friends: it’s National Pet Month! While we think that our furry pals should be pampered all the time, this is a great time to hang out with your canine buddy and indulge him a bit. Here, a Pickerington, OH vet lists some ways to get that cute tail wagging.

Puppy Play Zone

Do you have a yard for Fido to run around in? If so, why not make it a bit more fun for him? Add a doghouse, a sandbox, outdoor ramps, or even a kiddie pool. Your pup will also appreciate having some fun outdoor toys to play with.

Bark At The Park

Our canine pals love exploring new places. Take your furry bff on a fun outing to a local dog park. Just be sure to screen Fido’s playmates carefully. Before letting your pet off-leash, watch for female pooches in heat and/or dogs that are acting aggressive or bullying other pups. If the dogs at the park don’t seem friendly, take your four-legged buddy for a walk and go back another day.

Toys aren’t just fun for Fido: they’re actually very important to his health and well-being. Playing keeps your furry pal active, and offers him beneficial mental stimulation. Get your canine friend a few new playthings, and indulge him with a fun round of Fetch or Tug O War.

Bed

Did you know that dogs spend about half of their time sleeping? Make sure Fido has a comfy bed to snuggle up in.

BFF Time

At the end of the day, Fido just wants to spend time with you. Take your pooch for a nice long walk, or just relax and enjoy some down time with your canine companion while you’re reading or watching TV. Time spent with our animal friends is truly precious!
